Café Cakes gallery (linzertorte)
Linzertorte: an Austrian speciality cake with a sweet shortcrust dough flavoured with lemon, almonds, hazelnuts and spices. The cake is filled with raspberry jam, topped with a lattice of shortcrust then baked.

The Linzertorte is known to be the oldest kind of cake in the world. Its name is thought to come from the city of Linz and was first mentioned in writing in 1696. The oldest recipe dates back to a 300 year old cookery book, which still forms the basis of recipes today.
